Who says this is a sleepy town? All you have to do is show up at the right place at the right time, and a rousing bash is surely not far behind. Let's just say the partying in this portion of the island does not stop at the period marking the end of the holidays. A fun evening drive around the city proves just that, and that more and more individuals are turning into indisputable nightowls and partyphiles at once.

SEEN. At Ted Ramasola's video launch spotlighting the beauty of the Central Visayan islands, we caught a glimpse of Cebu lifestyle editor and stage actress Marlinda Angbetic-Tan;The Bohol Chronicle big boss Peter Dejaresco with his eye-catching wife, travel exec Sarah Jao-Dejaresco; Boholano royals Fred and
Barbara Ong of Panglao Island Nature Resort, MetroCentre Hotel and BQ Mall, and their hardworking heirs Raymond and Reginald Ong, all of them busy hosting the invitees with a delish lunch at the family franchise of Gerry's Grill, which certainly has one of the most scenic views of Tagbilaran Bay. Incidentally, the cinemas at BQ Mall are the only theaters in the Visayas capable of showing hi-resolution videos, hence the Department of Tourism's decision to hold the event there.

  Also spotted in the same affair were the stunning Sheryl Eastman sharing a table with the beauty-and-brains tandem of BIPC's Inday Dominise and bossa nova enthusiast Marisol Balistoy of DTI; restaurateur Jun Caturza of JJ's Seafood Village; definitive Boholano artist Ric Ramasola, who applauded the wonderful work of his workaholic son Ted, one of the country's busiest videographers; dive, martial arts and security specialist Holger Horn; and former Bohol Gov. David Tirol and wife Provincial Board Member Amalia Tirol.

  Meantime at Lazer, the basement club of Bohol Tropics Resort, Island Blend chanced upon a full-scale party replete with two live bands, a happy, noisy crowd, an overflow of frozen drinks and tons of fun. Reigning over his domain the night we dropped in was easy-on-the-eyes Baba Yap, who was occupied most of the evening entertaining his guests and company. Also seen having a blast were super nice IT guy Mark Gene Bompat, dusky Sheila Binamira, visiting beauty Melanie Wallace, the sedate Hannah Oppus, proud Santo Nino devotees Uly Dolojol of Oops Bar and Cottages with alter ego Maximiel Tallo, the famed fashion designer.

Elsewhere in town, there was a lively table at Asiatika one night occupied by controversial fine artist Edik Dolotina, transport mogul Gerry Lugod, Tourism belle Judy Quiachon, Doy's and Celmart's Charlotte Sevilla-Tan and Amai Regis, a top asset in City Councilor Baning Lagunay's staff. Occupying the private room that time were Albert and Inday Yap, on a rare night in town, with their goodlooking next generation headed by looker April Yap,along with Julius and Badette Froilan. Our sharp eyes also zeroed in one afternoon on sweet pair Blair and Nanette Panong at ICM; Bingbing Casenas scouring for office supplies at National Book Store;
magnificent ladies in their equally magnificent gardens Vicky Guzman-Maluenda and Nenette Tidalgo-Supe; former provincial PNP head Art Evangelista diving off the pristine beaches of Panglao; Sagbayan Mayor Jimmy Torrefranca and wifey, dazzling super woman Myrna Balane-Torrefranca, treating guests to paksiw na lechon, melts-in-the-mouth ube jam, succulent barbecue and the best nilaw-oy this side of the equator; Philippine Tourism Authority top gun Dean Barbers and Mrs. Barbers enjoying a pleasant night in Balicasag Island.

His guests included Jimmy Marquez, Rannie Raymundo, Raffi Quijano, Masculados, Alma Moreno, Erich Gonzales, Yul Servo, Baron Geisler, Viva Hot Babes and a mob of sharp, witty stand-up topbills. Home-cooked dishes are unparalleled at the unpretentious Al's Café and Lounge along Belderol St., which is managed by friendly British expatriate Al and his wife Lina from Loboc. Try their five-star pinakbet, the tangy beef in oyster sauce, and the pineapple-pork-potato combo! FHM's next cover girl is Angelica Panganiban. The men's mag's crew and the young star were here for three days last week to shoot in Doljo, Panglao. More on that next ish.
